Lake Tahoe

Basics: During the summer months, Lake Tahoe is generally very dry. Be sure to follow the rules regarding grilling and only use designated grilling areas.

Kosher Food: For kosher food, we brought along frozen milk, hot dogs, hamburgers, and buns. The rest of our food we purchased at the local Walmart.

For Shabbos, we ordered prepackaged food from Pomegranate. When ordering, we selected how we would warm up the food—either in the microwave or the oven. The food arrived wrapped in multiple layers, ensuring it wouldn’t leak during transport. Since we stayed in a hotel with a kitchen, we set ourselves up well for Shabbos and were able to enjoy delicious, warm meals throughout the weekend.

Weather: The weather in Lake Tahoe is a bit cooler than in New York; however, the sun can be very strong. Be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen, as you'll need to apply it frequently. A light sweater will suffice for the evenings.

Hotels and Attractions: We had no trouble booking hotels, and the attractions managed the crowds well. No prior reservations were needed.
