Beach at Sunset

Punta Cana

Basics: Punta Cana is a beautiful, private resort located at one end of the Dominican Republic. It has its own airport and security. To enter the resort, you must be pre-registered, and the hotels or Airbnb hosts typically handle this for you.

The resort is expansive, with numerous neighborhoods and sprawling resorts and hotels. If you're renting an Airbnb, we highly recommend renting a golf cart along with the house, as the resort is so large that walking around it is not practical.

Most Airbnb rentals come with a chef/housekeeper. Since we couldn’t have her cook for us, we asked her to prepare some fresh fruits and drinks instead. She picked fresh pineapple, cherries, and mangoes right from her backyard, and the fruits were absolutely divine—unlike anything we’d ever tasted. She also made delicious drinks for us, and to this day, we still make some of them ourselves.

Kosher Food: For kosher food, we brought along frozen milk, pancake mix, hot dogs, hamburgers, and buns. The rest of our groceries were purchased at the local supermarket.

Minyan: There is no Chabad within the Punta Cana resort.

Weather: The weather in Punta Cana is beautiful year-round, with plenty of sunshine and a refreshing ocean breeze.

Hotels and Attractions: We stayed at an Airbnb, but there are many beautiful resorts to choose from in the area. Some resorts offer excellent children's programs and activities.
While some attractions require prior bookings, we found it relatively easy to secure reservations that fit our schedule.
