St. Lucia & Barbados

Basics: We chose not to rent a car in St. Lucia, as the driving is opposite to what we're accustomed to in the U.S. Luxury Retreats arranged for our airport transfer upon arrival, and we used a car service for transportation afterward.

St. Lucia is a very religious country, and many stores are closed on Sundays. If you're arriving on a Sunday, be sure to pack all the essentials in your luggage or arrange for grocery delivery to your hotel before you arrive. We had to visit a nearby resort restaurant just to buy a bottle of water.

Accommodations: We booked a beautiful and secluded villa with an ocean view with Luxury Retreats. Luxury Retreats is now part of AirBnB Luxe.

For the hotel in Barbados- Rabbi Chaikin sent us the names of some local hotels, however, many were already booked up given how late we were booking. However, using the information the Rabbi gave us, we were able to find a hotel nearby that was still within walking distance for our son.

Kosher Food/ Minyan: We brought along most of our food, however, we also stocked up on some basics at the local Massy Stores.

St Lucia now has a Chabad, which offers kosher catering options as well.

Chabad of Barbados offers catering as well.

Reach out to the local Chabad rabbis regarding minyan- during the winter months there is very often a minyan on weekends.

Weather: The weather in both St. Lucia and Barbados is absolutely beautiful and warm.

Attractions: Other than the boat rental, no attractions require reservations. Ask your Airbnb host or resort concierge to help you with the boat tour booking.
