Vail

Basics:
Vail is located at a very high altitude, and some visitors may experience altitude sickness. If you feel dizzy or nauseous, be sure to let your hotel concierge know right away so they can arrange for medical assistance. Sometimes, a bit of oxygen can help ease the symptoms. Additionally, drinking plenty of water can help with altitude sickness, so make sure to stay hydrated.
If you're planning to explore the areas around Vail, be prepared for mountainous driving. The roads can be quite windy and steep, but the scenic drives are absolutely beautiful. We found ourselves constantly stopping at the side of the road just to take in the views.

Kosher Food: For kosher food, we brought along frozen milk, pizza, rolls, hot dogs, hamburgers, and buns. We purchased the rest of our food as needed from the local Walmart along the way.
Minyan: Chabad has a minyan during the summer and often during the winter as well. Be sure to contact the rabbi before booking your trip to confirm the schedule.

Shabbos: When we visited Vail, Chabad was not yet fully established, and the center was not open for Shabbos. Since KMR had also ended their program there, we decided to head to Denver for Shabbos. We were able to order Shabbos meals to go from a local deli and stocked up on some essentials while picking them up.
We davened at Aish Hatorah, a beautiful shul, and even met some fellow Brooklynites during our visit.

Weather: The weather in Vail is beautiful during the summer. Since Vail sits over 6,000 feet above sea level, it doesn’t get too hot, but it can rain frequently. Don’t let the rain dampen your plans—enjoy the day, even if it’s a bit drizzly. Be sure to keep sweatshirts handy for the evenings or any trips where you'll be heading to higher mountain peaks, where the temperatures can drop significantly.
Hotels and Attractions: Booking hotels, both along the way and in Vail Village, was relatively easy. The hotels in Vail are all beautiful and offer stunning mountain views.
While we were able to book our attractions once we arrived in Vail, the town has become much more popular since our visit. We recommend booking in advance to ensure availability.
